Why St Catherine's Hospice matters to us
Why we are deeply honoured to help fundraise for them, and the dedicated to supporting our saint Catherine's hospice. This journey is incredibly close to our hearts. We are fundraising on behalf of my husband’s late twin brother and the rest of his family of Michael Simpson, who sadly passed away on 16th September 2009 'Aged 21' to support the invaluable work of Saint Catherine’s Hospice.
To kickstart this campaign and begin our journey of supporting another vital Scarborough charity, we are pleased to say that my husband is personally donating £1,000.Saint Catherine’s provides exceptional care and comfort to individuals and families during their most challenging times.
As a local business, we want to ensure they can continue their extraordinary work for years to come. As part of this ongoing mission, we will be dedicated this page in 'Michael Simpson's memory, with saint Catherine's hospice fundraising at our heart of our mission.

Saint Catherine's Hospice goes above and beyond, consistently providing compassionate palliative care, emotional support, and practical assistance throughout the entire year. They offer invaluable help with symptom management, bereavement support, and a welcoming hand to anyone facing hardship at the end of life. Their comprehensive and holistic approach ensures that many individuals in our community receive the essential care they desperately need during such challenging times.
We don't have to say anything more, as we all clearly understand just how incredibly valuable they are to each and every one of us, without exception.

I met Mikey when my family moved to Scarborough, and my daughter was dating him. They married soon after, and he was a lovely person with a heart of gold.
We were fortunate to have him in our lives, even if only briefly.

A little about Mike's Life
Mike was born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, on December 3, 1987, just one minute before his twin brother. He is the son of Sharon and Alan Simpson and has an older sister, Adele, who is two years his senior.
As a child, Mike attended Gladstone Road School, followed by Raincliffe School and PRU in Scarborough. During his teenage years, he began working at the Welcome Inn on Southside during the summer season, where he made plenty of noise, friends, and cherished memories. Over the years, he moved between various jobs, from nightclubs to the Pro-Pak Food factory in Malton, forging friendships along the way. His nightlife led him to meet his future wife, Lynsey Simpson. The couple eventually moved in together on Langdale Road, later purchasing their first home on Hoxton Road. They welcomed a son, Joshua Simpson, and Mike worked as a care assistant to support his family. However, their lives took a devastating turn when Mike discovered a lump on his testicle.
After numerous hospital appointments, it was confirmed that he had testicular cancer. Shortly after beginning treatment, primarily at Ward 94 of St James's Hospital in Leeds, he fought valiantly to persevere through the challenges. Despite his circumstances, he always wore a smile and remained dedicated to helping others.
Throughout this journey, Mike formed deep friendships with fellow patients and staff, creating cherished memories, including his wedding and the christening of his son, Joshua. However, after these joyful occasions, we received devastating news: his cancer was incurable and had spread. He was subsequently transferred to St. Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough. where he passed away peacefully on the 16th September 2009.
